St. Michael’s-on-Wyre Church of England Primary School is situated in the heart of the village, on the corner of Blackpool Road and Hall Lane. We cater for children from the age of 4 to 11 years old, and work in partnership with our on-site nursery, for pre-school children.
We currently have around 100 pupils on roll, in 4 classes. The school recently was awarded an ‘Outstanding’ grade in every area by OFSTED and SIAS inspectors, reflecting the consistently high standards of attainment, achieved by the children, sustained over many years.
The school works closely with the Parish Church and we pride ourselves on our Christian ethos. We have a strong, committed and experienced staff team, who work closely together to ensure that the needs of each child are paramount in our planning and organisation.
The school day starts from 8:30am and there is an after-school club which runs until 4:50pm. There is also a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities available to the children, including football, rugby, tennis, cricket, judo, gymnastics, dance, choir, drama, gardening and wildlife. The school has an active PTA, who organising many fundraising and social events.

Kirkland Bridge Nursery School operates from St. Michael's-on-Wyre Church of England Primary School. Whilst we are fortunate to share the premises with the school we retain our independence and welcome children likely to attend any primary school. We take children from 2+ years old, and our opening hours are 8.40 - 3.00pm, Monday to Friday.
We are OFSTED inspected and all eligible children receive the Nursery Education Grant.
